My Job as a Fraser Tour Guide – Best job ever!!!

by Olly on 22 November 2010

When you actually enjoy your job, you know you’re a lucky man, and having a job which involves spending the majority on my time on the largest sand island in the world gives me all the motivation I need to get out of bed in the morning.

Becoming a guide for Nomads Fraser Island Tours is one of the best decisions I have ever made. Not only do I look forward to coming to work because I get the chance to meet exciting, adventurous and hilarious people from all walks of life, but I get to spend most of my days soaking up the sun on the gorgeous Fraser Island!

One of my most recent trips had all 18 of us departing the mainland on the 23rd of October excited for the days ahead of us and getting to know each other that little bit more. Everyone was filled with anticipation as the barge docked and we felt our tyres hit the hot sand.

We are greeted by all that nature has to offer. Just around the bend from first sites we have some of the most outstanding sites to show… such as Champagne pools, Indian Head, Eli Creek, Lake Wabby and Central station.

Not only does Fraser Island greet us with wonderful flora it has a unique rang of fauna such as the water monitor lizard, turtles and Fraser Island renowned dingoes. Fraser Island includes breathtaking sites such as those mentioned above and the days are filled with amazing site seeing however, the main party begins when sun sets on the waters separating Hervey Bay and its island. k’gari campsite is home away from home.

Most groups choose to use our fantastic facilities to cook dinner and then most guests start the nightly activity of goon drinking and party late into the night. Nights are filled with group bonding, drinking games and mornings filled with drunken memories, and new group ‘injokes’. The party then continues on return with regular parties in the bar at Nomads Hervey Bay Backpackers Hostel. So why not come and join is and get in on the Nomads Fraser Island Tours to have the time of your life.
